The World Bank

Web platform and mobile app redesign

Challenge

The World Bank has one of the world's largest troves of public health, economic, and social data.

However, the organization was crippled by siloes. Without an integrative platform, one branch would have data on diseases and another on water rights, but the two didn't share information and missed out on vital connections.

Strategy

We created a digital architecture to support their wide variety of data, with an intuitive and user-friendly UX.

We met with stakeholders to understand their pain points: the fear of being overwhelmed, the lack of cohesive planning, the need to empower local managing directors.

We studied what went wrong in the past to design an app that made it right.

Solution

We created a unique web platform and mobile app that worked like Google to give users an easy way to navigate an overwhelming amount of data, while channelling social media's ability to encourage open connections between community members.

We slowly added features to delight the user, rather than overwhelm them.

"Amazing technology. It made me rethink what we could do with data and the role the World Bank could play in communities."
